God's Little Gifts....

Sometimes you wonder what God has in store for you then it appears before you unexpectedly and yet the moment brings such clarity. Then you understand WHY you were there.

I had such a moment last night. I went with my friends to the Paradise Café for karaoke. I went up to the bar to get drinks because the waitress never showed up to take our order.

Hmmm… While standing there I started a conversation with this man. I sensed right away that he was a thoughtful man and I was drawn to him.

I sat down after a few minutes and started talking to him we connected on an intellectual level and the conversation became very deep and philosophical.

When I looked into his eyes I saw a heart wrenching pain that he seemed to be masking quite well. I invited him to the table with my friends and he accepted.

I made introductions, we all sang karaoke, danced and had a few drinks. After a few hours I excused myself and went to the bathroom. An old friend called me over and said I need to tell you something about Jason. He said his fiancée’ was killed in a head-on car crash 10 days ago. The wedding was planned for August.

He said they were so in love and were a very sweet couple. I was shocked that he was functioning as well as he was. He told me that I was the first person he had seem him open up to since the accident. He thanked me for making Jason's night just a little brighter and for easing his load just a little. WOW I thought!

God does not care where you are when you minister and you can be Christ like even singing karaoke!

We spent most of the night talking about life, favorite quotes, and God. His pain was so fresh and raw. It was heartbreaking to watch. I wanted to help him and did more listening than talking for a change.

When I did talk he seemed soothed by my words. He said they went straight to his heart.

He said I did not know it but I was an angel sent to him the only thing I was missing was my wings. He even sang “Angel Flying to Close to the Ground” by Willie Nelson for me. I was touched by his sincerity.

                                                                 Jason and Me

I recognized his broken spirit when I saw it, even though I have not experienced his kind of pain. When people are in pain it affects me in a way that is hard for even me to describe. Maybe it’s because I see myself in them and if I can help ease their pain or help heal them just a bit then maybe it will help heal me too. I believe in the giving of ourselves we receive God’s blessings.
